Are you tired of malls, and would love a change of pace from the busy hustle and bustle? Well I just discovered a new no-fuss chill spot that I would love to share with you. If good food, well-cultivated ingredients and a high respect for nature sound like your thing, then keep reading…
First off, I must warn you though, this is not the place to be uptight or fancy, so all you will need are comfy clothes, a good appetite and a willingness to connect with nature. Think of it like a mini-break, to enjoy some calm and quiet while sharing a bit of banter…and to learn quite a few things on what mother nature has to provide.
Renew your connection with nature
The Primitive Lounge, is basically, like chilling at a really cool friend’s house, who is super knowledgeable, creative and passionate about what he does..and what he does is growing a self-sufficient and sustainable ecosystem, with a food forest, a small farm and a couple of beehives. Bonus points ? There are also really friendly animals on site, like Boule, whose smile could fill the room with sunshine or Rataki, a playful rescued monkey who will be sure to grab your attention.

What’s on offer
Apart from an enjoyable experience shared with Gael, the host, you can also choose to have lunch on-site, sheltered in the shade. There are options for vegetarians and meat-lovers alike. I got to try something I had never tried before! No bread, or rice as served by so many places, but instead a new unexpected flavor…tapioca puree! This, mixed with a lovely hog plum and varied papaya salad, served with some lemon and ‘vavangue’ pickles, was refreshing and delicious!

For those considering the meat option, know that you will not be contributing to the mass slaughter of commercial farming here. Instead Gael, provides meat either from his own mini-farm where the animals are well-treated or from one of his hunting or fishing trips.
You can also opt to go for a visit of the property, though not as big as some of our nature parks, his little garden is filled with a variety of endemic, exotic and indigenous plants.

Through this visit, you will get to learn a lot more about his planting methods, the names and possible uses of the different plants as well as get the chance to get a fruit or two along the way if you are in luck.
The beautiful thing about this place is how in sync it is with nature; so the fruits and vegetables you may see, will all depend on the season. I have to say, that we truly enjoyed our experience, among plants and furry friends.

What’s coming next
This place is brimming with potential, and there are a lot of ideas in our host’s head that are set to be developed during the course of this year. He has been hinting on a few more themed places on site, where you might just be able to nap, while being gently rocked, with the breeze and the sounds of birds chirping. So..do you fancy a trip there? Get in touch with Gael here.
